About The Breakdowns
After years of crawling through the ember-filled ashes of Southern California’s gritty underground scenes, frontman and chief songwriter Dave Stucken, bassist Maxfield Ladish, guitarist Ryan Anthony and drummer Julian Kelly came together with an anti-establishment attitude and a need to break free from the confining perceptions of genre.
The band’s latest recordings (made at Hurley Studios with longtime friend and producer Davey Warsop of Suedehead/Beat Union) land them somewhere between the lost past and unwritten future of rock ‘n’ roll with a flurry of passion-driven songs inspired by the imagery of film noir and rebel love. Stucken’s songwriting reinvigorates what it means to play rock ‘n’ roll, his catchy vocal hooks and blistering guitar solos intertwine themselves with honest lyrics, hidden themes and deeper meaning.
A rare beacon of worthwhile in today’s world of mainstream mediocrity, The Breakdowns continue to turn the range of life’s emotions into powerful music that speaks.
